What is your strategy actually worth?
Designed for value. Built for resilience.
reDesign consulting: redesigning. reimagining. a future of resilience
Turn sustainable design and responsible purchasing into measurable business value—from fiber to resale.
Every strategy has a cost. Few companies count the total return—including the risks avoided, revenue earned, and costs reduced—across a product’s entire life.
My approach draws on two decades of designing for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and American Eagle, and teaching at NYU Stern.
The reDesign approach.
You can’t capture what you never counted.
Most of the value a strategy creates—from avoided costs to customer trust—never shows up on a balance sheet.
Value Foundations starts by defining what counts as value, and to whom, then engages the stakeholders who hold that value—inside the company and across the supply chain—and finds the data to prove it. Deep industry experience shapes what matters most, and ROSI™ (Return on Sustainability Investment) methodology, developed by NYU Stern’s Center for Sustainable Business, measures the return.
The result—a business case built on your own operational data , and industry benchmarks. From sustainability reports to resilient business models.
Across two practice areas:
Product Life Value (PLV): the value a product creates and holds across its whole life, from materials and quality to use, repair, resale and rental
Responsible Purchasing Practices: how a product is bought and made, and the brand–supplier relationships behind it
About me, Chana Rosenthal
I’ve spent more than two decades in apparel, designing for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and American Eagle. Working with mills, factories and cross-functional teams taught me where value is made, where it’s lost, and where ambition tends to collide with operational reality. Today I advise companies on using better design and responsible sourcing as tools for resilience and risk reduction, with a measurable financial return. I speak design, sourcing and finance, and translate between them. I also bring that work to the classroom at NYU Stern, where I teach sustainability consulting.
What I believe
Products made well, from high-quality materials chosen with intent, last—and what lasts holds its value
Value builds across a product’s entire life, from the materials chosen to repair and resale
What’s in a product impacts the people who make it and the people who buy it
Quality is built across the supply chain—fair purchasing and good materials go together
Work with reDesign consulting
Every company starts in a different place. Some need to develop a shared language before they can move forward; others already know what they want to change and need help making it happen. Talks build that shared starting point for a team, a leadership group or an industry audience. Engagements put the work into practice, with your people, your data and your supply chain.
-
Whose value counts, why so much of it goes uncounted, and how ROSI™, NYU Stern CSB’s methodology, measures it. Best for a company or an industry group.
-
The full return value of one initiative, start to finish: revenue earned, costs reduced and costs avoided.
-
Who should be in the room, inside the company and across the supply chain, where to start, and how to make change last.
-
Products made well, from the right materials, should last, and lasting should pay. How quality, repair, resale and rental extend a product’s value.
-
Building and maintaining fair, resilient supplier relationships reduces risk and protects quality. Reviews cover contracts, internal sourcing practices and human rights due diligence (HRDD) metrics.
